Teacher Instructions

  1. Pair students up. One student is the "Writer" and the other is the "Coach".
  2. The Writer reads their piece aloud (or a section of it).
  3. The Coach listens and then responds using the conversation protocol: "I noticed...", "I wondered...", "What if you tried..."
  4. Students switch roles and repeat.
  5. Both students note down the key feedback they received and plan their next steps.

Teaching Tips

  • The conversation protocol prevents vague feedback like "it's good".
  • Having students read aloud helps them hear issues in their own writing.
  • This activity builds both writing and listening skills.
