Teacher Instructions

  1. Provide students with a copy of the graphic organiser or have them draw their own. Model this process on the board for class input.
  2. Students work through each square and respond to each prompt.
  3. Move around the room, checking in with students and challenging some of their ideas.
  4. Peer review and discussion should be encouraged at each step.

Teaching Tips

  • Students should consider as many aspects as possible of their issue.
  • As each bubble is refined down, more layers can be added – this becomes the makings of a persuasion map.
  • Consider sending students to news sources (ABC News, The Guardian, local newspapers) to get them thinking about current issues.
