Teacher Instructions

  1. Students re-read their entire draft from start to finish.
  2. Using the reflection prompts, students evaluate their writing at the text level.
  3. Students consider: Does the text achieve its stated purpose? Is the voice consistent throughout? Does the structure serve the content?
  4. Students identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  5. Students set specific goals for their next revision.

Teaching Tips

  • This works well as a paired activity where students reflect on each other's work.
  • Encourage students to read their work aloud to catch issues they might miss silently.
  • Link this reflection back to the Purpose stage – does the text meet the original purpose, audience, and context?
