Materials
- Text with deliberate errors embedded
- Correction key/guide
Teacher Instructions
- Prepare a text with deliberate errors at the word level: spelling, punctuation, word choice, tense consistency, etc.
- Provide students with the text and ask them to find and correct all errors.
- Students work individually to identify errors, marking and correcting each one.
- Review the corrections as a class, discussing why each error is incorrect and what the correct form is.
- Students then apply the same error-hunting process to their own writing.
Teaching Tips
- Start with obvious errors and increase difficulty over time.
- Can be adapted for other subjects – focus on sentence construction and key vocabulary in History, Science, etc.
- Make it competitive: who can find the most errors?
Student Handout
Read the text carefully and find all the errors. Mark each error and write the correction.
